Last weekend!

I know I haven't been blogging a lot lately, but I've getting used to school and all of that!
But last weekend, I took in the great adventure of being alone for the whole weekend! Yeah! Like 100% alone, no roomie, nor family. My family went to Chihuahua, and my roomie to Juarez, and because I had exams I needed to stay and study. So just to keep it simple, I took some pictures, so you can see a little bit about the unnoticed beauty of the city of El Paso.

It RAINED!!! :) And it created a RIVER!

I guess it's about looking at the little things that make our life beautiful and interesting! It's about making things like nice buildings, parks, the rain, smiles, or just a sunny day, those things that make our life full of happiness and emotion! :) It's about keeping things simple, and sweet!

G.E.E.O.

Organizations are a great way to get involved in school! They are a group of students who get together for a special purpose, maybe they are interested in the same major, or they have a mutual goal they want to pursue. In the College of Business Administration, there are about 12 organizations you can join. There is American Marketing Association, Association of Information Technology Professionals, Association for Operation Management, Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting. Also Beta Alpha Psi, and Accounting Society, Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization, Delta Sigma Pi, Financial Management Association, Regional Economic Development Association, Society For Human Resource Management, Women in Business and Global Engagement and Exchange Organization.

So there are a lot to choose from, and I recently joined Global Engagement and Exchange Organization. My first meeting was this past Tuesday. I got involved in this organization because it's "thing" is International Business, and internships abroad. I love traveling, and learning a new culture, and to be in an organization that is involved in the world, and what the world has to offer for us students is just amazing. My first meeting was really "cool", it was very professional, and they have a lot going on this month! The most amazing thing about them, was that they gave me and my roommate (we both joined) the opportunity attend a dinner with the Dean of the College of Business Administration, Dr. Robert Nachtman, and a guest, Guillermo Ochoa, a successful entrepreneur. The dinner was full of experience, I learned a lot about the business industry, we learned a lot of advice from our guest and from the Dean as well. I heard a lot of amazing stories from everyone in the room, everybody was so nice, the dinner was delicious, and the conversation was just excellent. I learned a lot from the other members of the group, they are all very successful, and humble people, that are taking over the world. :)
(Yeah! I didn't take any pictures of the dinner :C  )

I am so exciting to learn more about international business, and the whole organization experience. :) I am hoping to take the most advantage of this opportunity, and with this organization all I have to offer.

Labor day weekend!

First of all, UTEP's first game was last Saturday the 1st. It was UTEP vs. Oklahoma, and even though I didn't go, I heard the sad news, that Oklahoma won 24-7!!!! But all is well, we still have many games to come!

A thing that made me smile on Monday: Usually about this time a year, in Mexico, there are a lot of people int he streets selling flags and Mexican things, because of September 16th. That is our Independence Day!!!! So I started thinking, even though we are not the best country, and we have a lot of problems, we are united by the flag, by our culture, by our country! That made me put a huge smile on my face!!!!!

I don't know if I told you but I have a little sister, her name is Natalia, and she is 15. We get a long most of the time! But I really love her, so we took a kind-of-goodbye-picture!

I also took time out of my weekend to make a necklace! Each side of the necklace shows my home towns, Cd.Juarez, Mexico, and Ristiina, Finland.  I've seen them in Pinterest, so I finally did it!

I watched the Paralympics, and it just made me feel so inspired and full of life to watch does people with disabilities fulfill their goals and dreams! It was just beautiful ....   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGTzNS183ZY&feature=fvwrel

Survived First Week!

So I have survived my first week in UTEP! WUHU! This week was full of experiences, and new adventures.  Thursday after school, my roommate and I went to a meeting with one successful student, to talk about organizations, student life, tips, and school. He have us some really nice tips, that I hope will help me later on in my life. That night I made dinner, and it turned out pretty well. Although I made a rookie cooking mistake, I started the spaghetti, with all the other things, and because spaghetti takes longer to cook, the other things got a little burned, hihihihi.

Little thing that made me smile about Thursday: I was in Art Appreciation class, and my teacher gave us a little assignment. We have to list things we liked and things we didn't like. It was an easy assignment, so we started listing. Then  when we had some things jotted down, my teacher showed us an image of her "journal", from 1980's and her list was amazing! It was so full of detail, and the things she liked, were so specific, so peculiar. One of them was, that she liked when we was in a stop light and the car in front of her had the turn signal on, and it blinked with the rhythm of the music she was listening too. While mine was; I like music. After that I went home with a big smile, trying to see while my life continued what were those thing that made me smile! So that is my new project, I want to create MY LIST!

Friday... It started really early, and I suffered from an epic fail breakfast. I tried to make like french crepes but they just FAILED! I got to my classes on time, and I learned some new things about college in my University class, and I also remembered some things about math. It was an light-fun-hot day!
I experienced 2 not-so-near-to-death experiences while I was going back from school, to my house. One was caused by my foot, and the pedal, the other was caused by a woman in a car and they can be expressed like this:
 not-so-near-to-death experience #1= slippery pedal+slippery shoe+steep hill+tired Olga+pedaling while standing (if you know what I mean) = bruise on Olga's knee
 not-so-near-to-death experience #2=woman in car+Olga in a bike+restaurant exit=Olga&car almost become one
On Friday I went shopping with my friend Diana. We (meaning mostly Diana) got a lot of good things from the clearance section at Target. We also went to the Sunland Park Mall, to eat and shop a little more. Finally we ended the day at the Minerpalooza!
Minerpalooza is a party held at UTEP, where I think we celebrate/cheer/party/get-ready for the first game of the season. UTEP vs. Oklahoma! It was really nice, there was music, games, food, and much more. There was a lot of people all wearing their UTEP t-shirts, having fun, and enjoying a nice evening.

Something is wrong with this picture. :(
Did my nails!!

That raps it up for today! :)

Sandwich of the Week!

It is the middle of the week, and I am still alive and happy! Although I have to admit, me and my hot friend the Sun, are not getting along very well, but I guess I'll have to get used to him. Today I have finally gone to all of my classes. :) Monday & Wednesday are my busiest days ever! I have 4 classes, Critical Inquiry, French (which I just registered for), Math, and English. Today I was alone but with a lot of people around me, and because I like an hour in between each classes, I have to pass the time somehow. So even though there are other people around me, and we do eye contact, and maybe offer each other a smile, there is no further social interaction. I guess that is one  I kind-of-like-but-not-really thing.
Ohh! Today there was some kind of confusion with the teacher, our internet schedule, and us, the students. The internet schedule said our class was in a different classroom than the one we were in. (Context: Some students are early to class, so we just wait, and a girl says that they have changed the classroom, so we start checking our phones, and yeah it has changed.) So we go to the other building, and the teacher is not there, so we waited about 10-15min after the class started. Finally we decide to go back, and yeah!, big surprise, everyone else is there in class -.- . We get in, and the teacher asks, "Did you go to the other building?", so we said "Yes!", and we was like "Yeah! We didn't change today, but we will on Friday". I was like "YOU DON"T SAY!!!!"
Ohh! I got my bike from the bike-fixing-place. They gave my bike a new tire! So tomorrow, I would have the going-to-UTEP-experience! WUHU!
TO end the day, me and my roommate, went to our friend's house, (her name is Ivy) and we talked about college, school, and stuff, we had dinner (quesadillas, with chorizo) and we laughed, and had a good time. And when we were coming back, Eva and me decided to stop and enjoy the beauty of the mountain view. So we took some pictures, until Eva got a little panicked and we had to run for our life!!
El Paso by night!

Hehe Eva, was stunned by the flash!!
